Ecological, Chemical Free, Algae, Wastewater and Stormwater Treatment
For some time, the Martinez Treatment Plant’s existing “polishing lagoons” allowed the biology of the lagoon to clean the water.
This process worked well until some disturbances to the system occurred and increased the algae bloom. As a fix, the Eco Lake Solutions team installed a “hyper-accumulator” -- a set of floating islands to cover 3% of the surface areas of two ponds, the work has since expanded to four additional ponds.
Our 'floating islands' are really a platform for plant-root matrix ecologies that out-compete harmful golden or blue-green algae blooms, creating a healthier, more balanced ecology and habitat.
In 2019, prior to the installation of Eco Lake's floating islands, the Martinez Municipal Treatment Plant spent roughly $40,000 to unsuccessfully take algae out of the ponds. Our results show that the Eco Lake Solutions floating islands have since prevented recurring algae blooms.
This project, which started out as an algae remediation plan, is now part of a Basin Plan, which ensures that an older treatment plant will now meet more current standards.
We are utilizing Eco Lake Solution's success at the Martinez site with our Hyper-accumulators -- A system capable of taking up to 10X the amount of phosphorus and nitrogen out of bodies of water -- And using them to continue improving the water quality at the Sanitary District and the Martinez Wastewater Treatment Plant.
With phase one of Martinez project complete, we are now looking forward to the next phase.
